ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- A former Tampa Bay Buccaneers football player has been arrested on possession of cocaine, police in Florida said.

Police allegedly found a crack pipe in a car driven by Keith McCants, and crack cocaine in a purse belonging to a passenger, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported.

Police said McCant's vehicle pulled out of a strip club parking lot early Wednesday without stopping. The pipe was reportedly in plain sight on the center console, and the crack was allegedly found in a purse belonging to passenger Christina Shamika Campbell.

St. Petersburg police arrested McCants and booked him into the Pinellas County Jail Wednesday morning.

McCants was one of the nation's top college defensive players when he attended the University of Alabama, but was considered one of the biggest draft busts in Bucs history, the report said.

McCants was the fourth overall pick in the 1990 National Football League draft but was cut after three seasons; he has a history of legal troubles.

Alabama police used a Taser on McCants in 2008 after he allegedly threw pliers, a screwdriver and a crack pipe at officers, the report said.
