COL BKB: Temple 68, Georgetown 65

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Lavoy Allen's key rebound and Rahlir Jefferson's two free throws with 2 seconds left Thursday gave Temple a surprising 68-65 win over No. 9 Georgetown.

Temple led by as many as 11 points late in the first half and maintained a narrow advantage through the second period in handing the Hoyas their first loss of the season.

Georgetown had a chance to take the lead with 11 seconds to go only to have Hollis Thompson miss a layup. Allen grabbed the rebound to protect Temple's one-point lead and Jefferson then hit his two foul shots for the final points of the game.

Austin Freeman missed a desperation 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Ramone Moore had a career-best 30 points for Temple (6-2) and Fran Dunphy won the 400th game of his coaching career.

Jason Clark scored 15 points to pace the Hoyas (8-1).
