NHL: Philadelphia 3, N.Y. Islanders 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Danny Briere found the net late in the third period Sunday, boosting the Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-2 decision over the New York Islanders.

Scott Hartnell made a cross-ice pass from the left halfboards to Briere, who received the puck in the high slot and unleashed a wrist shot to the glove side of Dwayne Roloson and into the net for the go-ahead tally with less than 6 minutes remaining in regulation.

Andreas Nodl and Matt Carle also scored for the Flyers and Andrej Meszaros contributed a pair of assists from the victors.

Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 28 shots in Philadelphia's win.

The hapless Islanders, who lost for the sixteenth time in 17 games, got goals from P.A. Parenteau and Frans Nielsen in their latest defeat.
