NBA: Dallas 105, Sacramento 103

SACRAMENTO, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Jason Terry made a critical steal in the closing seconds Saturday that protected a Dallas lead and boosted the Mavericks to a 105-103 victory over Sacramento.

Dallas won its ninth straight game and equaled San Antonio for the best road record in the NBA at 8-1.

The Mavericks held the Kings to two points over the final 3:15, overcoming a late seven-point deficit.

Tyson Chandler gave Dallas the lead for good at 103-101 by making two free throws with 54 seconds left. Dirk Nowitzki then blocked a shot by Carl Landry and that led to Jason Kidd making two more foul shots for a four-point lead.

After DeMarcus Cousins brought the Kings within two on a dunk -- Sacramento's only basket in the closing minutes -- J.J. Barea missed two free throws for Dallas.

That gave the Kings a chance to tie it, but Landry found himself cut off as he tried to drive to the basket. Landry attempted a pass it out to the perimeter and Terry was there to pick it off.

He quickly fed it to Kidd, who dribbled out of danger and ran out the clock.

Nowitzki led Dallas with 25 points and Terry had 23. Sacramento, which suffered its seventh loss in a row, got 25 from Tyreke Evans.
