He later racked up birdies on Nos. 6 and 8 and finished the day knotted with Martin at 16-under 341.

Martin used a birdie at No. 5 to retain a share of the lead at the qualifying event known as Q School, held at Orange County National Golf Center & Lodge.

Bio Kim's 3-under 68 was good enough for third place at minus-15. Tied for fourth at minus-13 were William McGirt (69), Zack Miller (71) and Will Strickler (68).

The Q School event will see the Top 25 finishers receiving PGA Tour cards for the 2011 season.

The sixth and final round will be played Monday.
