MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Ryan Clarke ran for three touchdowns and Geno Smith threw for a career-high 352 yards Saturday in No. 24 West Virginia's 35-14 win over visiting Rutgers.
Clarke totaled only 11 yards on seven carries but scored on a 3-yard run and two 1-yard plunges.
Smith was 23-of-28 for West Virgina (9-3, 5-2 Big East) and hit Jordan Thomas for an 18-yard touchdown that gave the Mountaineers a 14-7 halftime lead. Tavon Austin rounded out the scoring with a 46-yard TD run in the third quarter and also had 121 receiving yards.
Rutgers (4-8, 1-6) quarterback Chas Dodd was 10-of-19 for 139 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked six times and the Scarlet Knights ended their season on a six-game losing streak.
West Virginia racked up 523 total yards to Rutgers' 203. Rutgers was only 2-of-11 on third down conversions, but 2-of-2 on fourth down.
