NHL: Carolina 2, Colorado 1 (OT)

RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Brandon Sutter scored on a wrist shot from the right circle 1:16 into overtime Friday, giving the Carolina Hurricanes a 2-1 victory over Colorado.

Sutter's fifth goal of the season brought the Hurricanes their first home win since Nov. 17.

The game was scoreless through two periods before Jeff Skinner gave Carolina the lead 4:50 into the third. Milan Hejduk tied it with 7:09 to go in regulation.

Cam Ward made 34 saves to get the win. Craig Anderson gave up the winning goal and stopped 30 shots.

Colorado opened a five-game trip, all the contests coming against Southeast Division teams.
