NBA: LA Clippers 90, San Antonio 85

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Blake Griffin keyed an unexpected result with a 31-point performance Wednesday, igniting the Los Angeles Clippers to a 90-85 win over San Antonio.

The Spurs came into the game with the best record in the NBA and the Clippers had the worst.

San Antonio lost for just the third time this season and became the last team in the league to suffer a road setback this season. The Clippers won their fourth game, which is still tied with Minnesota and Sacramento for the fewest in the NBA.

Los Angeles held San Antonio scoreless for the final 4 minutes of the second period while rallying for a 48-40 halftime lead. The Spurs also went without a point during a 5-minute stretch of the fourth quarter and only made the game as close as it was thanks to a pair of 3-pointers in the final 40 seconds.

Griffin followed up a 35-point showing in his previous outing against Utah. His high game in his first NBA season has been 44 against New York.

Eric Gordon was the only other player in double figures for Los Angeles with 21.
