COL BKB: Central Florida 57, Florida 54

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Keith Clanton's two free throws with 9 seconds left gave Central Florida a five-point lead Wednesday and the Knights went on to stun No. 16 Florida 57-54.

The unbeaten Knights (6-0) held a narrow lead for most of the game and did not fade down the stretch, despite making only 36 percent of their shots.

After Clanton boosted the Central Florida lead to 57-52, Erving Walker made a layup for the Gators and they quickly fouled Clanton again. This time Clanton missed the front end of a 1-and-1 opportunity and Vernon Macklin grabbed the rebound for Florida, giving the Gators a faint hope of forcing overtime.

Macklin, however, threw the ball away to clinch the Central Florida victory.

Marcus Jordan led the Knights with 18 points and Clanton had 12. The Knights turned the ball over only eight times.

Florida (5-2) got 20 points from Macklin and 16 from Walker.

This was the 11th time the schools had met in basketball and the first time Central Florida had won.
