NHL: New Jersey 2, Philadelphia 1 (SO)

NEWARK, N.J., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Travis Zajac netted a goal in the fourth round of a shootout Saturday and the New Jersey Devils edged Philadelphia 2-1.

Zajac's game-winning shot came after Mike Richards missed for Philadelphia in the top of the fourth shootout frame. Zajac's shot hit the right post and quickly came back out of the net, but it counted and the Devils had the victory.

New Jersey's regulation goal came from Adam Mair, and Johan Hedberg was strong in net, stopping 40-of-41 shots in his best performance of the season.

The Flyers, meanwhile, lost back-to-back shootouts on consecutive days.

Danny Briere's third-period power-play goal tied it for Philadelphia and Brian Boucher absorbed the hard-luck loss with 24 saves.
