NHL: Tampa Bay 5, N.Y. Rangers 3

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Ryan Malone scored Tampa Bay's first two goals Wednesday and the Lightning fought off a third-period comeback to down the New York Rangers 5-3.

The Lightning won their fifth straight, taking a 5-0 lead before the Rangers produced a late flurry against Mike Smith.

Malone delivered his two goals in the first period, both of them coming on the power play, and Tampa Bay scored three times in the second. The first of those goals came from Steven Stamkos, his league-leading 21st of the season.

Smith made 17 saves, but then gave up goals in the third to Steve Eminger, Brian Boyle and Derek Stepan. The Rangers have lost three of their last five.

Henrik Lundqvist made 29 saves in the loss.
