COL BKB: Duke 82, Marquette 77

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Mason Plumlee scored 25 points and top-ranked Duke held off a determined Marquette Monday, hanging on for an 82-77 victory.

Plumlee grabbed 12 rebounds and made five blocked shots and Nolan Smith added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Devils (4-0), who blew a double-digit lead but emerged with a semifinal victory at the CBE Classic in Kansas City, Mo.

The upstart Golden Eagles (4-1) bounced back from a double-digit deficit, pulling even at several points, but the Blue Devils used 14 points from Kyle Singler and 11 from freshman Kyrie Irving to notch the win.

Marquette got 22 points and six rebounds from Jimmy Butler while Darius Johnson-Odom contributed 13 points in the hard-fought loss.
