Hawaii authorities said Brennan, 27, sustained multiple injuries when a car in which he was a passenger struck another vehicle in the island of Hawaii's Kona district around 9:30 a.m. Friday, the Honolulu Star Advertiser reported.

A 47-year-old woman in the other car was also seriously hurt and had to be pulled out through her vehicle's roof. Brennan was hospitalized at Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu in serious condition while the woman was taken to North Community Hospital in Waimea with serious leg injuries, the newspaper said.

Police said Brennan's vehicle was driven by his girlfriend, Shakti Stream, 27, of Kona, who reportedly suffered a broken collarbone.

"He's still under anesthetics and so forth and they're doing some more cat scans," Brennan's father, Terry Brennan, told KHNL-TV, Honolulu. "He's got some broken ribs, I believe it's the left clavicle and just trying to monitor his head injuries."

Brennan, who holds the NCAA record for most touchdown passes in a single season with 58, quarterbacked Hawaii from 2005-07 and is currently an NFL free agent.

Jury acquits Leyritz of DUI manslaughter

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Former New York Yankees player Jim Leyritz is not guilty of drunken driving manslaughter in a woman's 2007 death, a Florida jury decided Saturday.

After reporting they were deadlocked Friday, jurors returned to a Fort Lauderdale courtroom and said they had acquitted Leyritz of DUI manslaughter, for which he had been facing up to 15 years in prison, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

Instead, Leyritz was convicted of a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, which can carry a sentence of up to six months in jail.

Thirty-year-old Fredia Ann Veitch, of Plantation, died Dec. 28, 2007, when her car collided with a vehicle driven by Leyritz after he had celebrating his birthday at Fort Lauderdale nightspots.

Prosecutors were unable to prove Leyritz ran a red light in the accident, and his defense lawyer argued the former Yankee's blood alcohol level may have been below Florida's legal limit of 0.08 percent at the time of crash, despite a higher reading later, the newspaper said.

Defense attorney David Bogenschutz said a brain injury Leyritz sustained in the crash caused his digestive system to slow down, making a subsequent blood test untrustworthy.

Reports: Raptors, Hornets settle on trade

NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Confirmation of a reported five-player trade between the New Orleans Hornets and Toronto Raptors was still pending Saturday.

The reported deal would send Peja Stojakovic and Jerryd Bayless to Toronto in exchange for Jarrett Jack, David Andersen and Marcus Banks, ESPN.com reported.

Sources told the Web site the deal would be announced later in the day.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune said Stojakovic and Bayless were not at the Hornets' practice Saturday. Team officials had no comment.

The newspaper said Jack is a good friend of Hornets star Chris Paul while the veteran Stojakovic was in the final year of his contract and had fallen out of the starting lineup for a period this season.

Vikings activate injured receiver Rice

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Injured Minnesota wide receiver Sidney Rice has been activated from the physically unable to perform list, the Vikings said Saturday.

Rice, who earned a Pro Bowl berth last year while teaming with quarterback Brett Favre, was added to the roster for the first time this season after suffering a hip injury during the Vikes' loss to New Orleans in last year's NFC championship game.

Minnesota has struggled without him, going 3-6 this season. They face Green Bay at home Sunday.

Rice, 24, hauled in 83 passes for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns last season, playing all 16 games.

This week, he shot down speculation he wasn't interested in returning to a losing team, writing on his blog, "What's going on now is definitely not about my contract. That's a bunch of bull. I wouldn't dare do the fans or my teammates like that."
