DETROIT, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- John Madden scored with 42 seconds remaining in overtime Friday, giving the Minnesota Wild a 4-3 triumph over Detroit.
The Wild tied it on Mikko Koivu's wrist shot with 1:23 to go in the third period and a shootout was looming before Madden scored his fourth goal of the season.
Minnesota has won three in a row, two of those victories coming in overtime.
Detroit rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead. Darren Helm started the comeback with 34 seconds remaining in the second period and the Red Wings got goals from Johan Franzen and Patrick Eaves in the first 5 minutes of the third.
Jose Theodore made 41 saves to get the victory. Jimmy Howard allowed four goals on 27 shots to end Detroit's four-game winning streak.
