NHL: Colorado 5, New York Rangers 1

DENVER, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- David Jones scored the first of Colorado's four second-period goals Friday, igniting the Avalanche to a 5-1 victory over the New York Rangers.

Colorado drove New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist out of the game while winning its third in a row.

Jones delivered his eighth goal of the season 64 seconds into the period and Colorado got additional scores in the stanza from Kevin Porter, Matt Duchene and Kevin Shattenkirk.

Lundqvist came into the game having given up 2.64 goals per contest but he surrendered three on 16 shots before being replaced by Martin Biron.

Craig Anderson had his bid for a shutout spoiled by Derek Stepan 6:03 into the third period. Anderson made 25 saves in the victory.
