NHL: Pittsburgh 3, Vancouver 1

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Marc-Andre Fleury made 29 saves Wednesday, Sidney Crosby scored his 13th goal and the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated Vancouver 3-1.

The Penguins had hosted Vancouver just four times over the last decade and the Canucks had won every one of those meetings. Pittsburgh's last home victory over Vancouver had come on Feb. 14, 2000.

Crosby scored on a breakaway with 3:17 left in the first period to give Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead. His 13 goals are one off the league lead, held by Washington's Alexander Semin, who scored for the 14th time Wednesday in a 4-2 victory over Buffalo.

The Penguins boosted their lead to 3-0 in the second period on a shorthanded goal by Maxime Talbot and a backhander from Arron Asham.

Dan Hamhuis scored the only Vancouver goal midway through the second. Roberto Luongo gave up three goals on 29 shots.
