Minoza forges ahead at Champions qualifier

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Philippines native Frankie Minoza fired a 4-under-par 68 Wednesday, establishing a three-shot lead after two rounds of Champions Tour qualifying tournament.

Minoza charged ahead of J.L. Lewis, with whom he shared the 18-hole lead, and moved to 10-under 134 with his performance on the TPC Eagle Trace in Coral Springs, Fla.

Lewis took a major tumble, shooting a 72 to drop into a share of seventh place at 6-under 138.

Tied for second behind Minoza at minus-7 were Namibia's Trevor Dodds (66), England's Roger Chapman (67), and Americans Keith Clearwater (69), Lee Rinker (69) and Fred Holton (70).

The top five finishers at the tournament will earn a full Champions Tour exemption for the 2011 season and the next seven will be awarded conditional status.
