VILLANOVA, Pa., Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Corey Fisher scored 24 points Friday and No. 6 Villanova put on a defensive show in opening the season with a 68-52 win over Bucknell.
Villanova held the Bison to 19 field goals and 32 percent shooting. Bucknell did not score a point during the final 6:55 of the first half, although the Wildcats led by only 12 at the break.

Maalik Wayns added 15 points for Villanova, which is trying to improve on a second-round exit in last year's NCAA Tournament.
Darryl Shazier led Bucknell with 12 points. The Bison won 14 games last season, twice as many as they did the year before.
