COL BKB: Gonzaga 117, Southern 72

SPOKANE, Wash., Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Steven Gray hit 5-of-8 3-pointers Friday and scored 25 points to easily carry No. 12 Gonzaga to a 117-72 shelling of Southern University.

The teams combined to attempt 53 shots from 3-point range, hitting 25. Gonzaga was 13-of-22 from long range.

Gray had nine assists and grabbed seven rebounds for the Bulldogs, who hope to improve on a 27-7 record from last season. Sam Dower added 19 points and both Elias Harris and Mathis Monninghoff had 12.

Southern, which won just five games last season, was led by 12 points from Madut Bol.

Gonzaga had only a two-point lead with 7:51 to play in the first half, then outscored Southern the rest of the way 92-49.
