NHL: Ottawa 5, Atlanta 2

OTTAWA, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- The Ottawa Senators put in five straight goals Tuesday, including two by Jason Spezza, in their 5-2 victory over Atlanta.

The Senators spotted the Thrashers a 1-0 lead early in the first period, but they then reeled off five consecutive goals, bookended by Spezza's third goal of the season midway through the initial frame and his fourth 1:23 into the third.

Spezza added an assist and Sergei Gonchar, Chris Neil and Jesse Winchester also found the net for Ottawa, which won its fourth straight and seventh in nine games.

Brian Elliott turned aside 35-of-37 shots for the victors.

Andrew Ladd and Anthony Stewart scored for Atlanta. Starting goalie Chris Mason was pulled after letting in four goals on 18 shots. Ondrej Pavelec came in to turn aside 10-of-11 shots the rest of the way.
