Shin, Tseng are 1-2 in women's golf

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Jiyai Shin tightened her hold on the top spot in women's golf and Yani Tseng jumped to second in the world rankings released Monday.

Shin won last week's Mizuno Classic in Japan, finishing two strokes ahead of Tseng, the tournament runner-up. The victory allowed Shin to increase her lead at No. 1 while Tseng's showing pushed her from sixth to second in the rankings.

Shin has a rankings point average of 11.62, well ahead of Tseng (10.69). Cristie Kerr (10.51) slipped from second to third but Choi Na-yeon, who tied for fifth at the Mizuno, is right behind at 10.50.

No. 5 Suzann Pettersen (10.39) dropped two rankings spots as did Ai Miyazato (10.38). Miyazato, now sixth, was No. 1 as recently as the Oct. 18 rankings.

Michelle Wie (7.84) and Kim Song-hee (7.49) retained their seventh and eighth rankings, respectively. Kim In-kyung (7.26) is ninth after switching places with new No. 10 Paula Creamer (7.25).

There are two tournaments left on the 2010 LPGA calendar. The tour heads to Mexico for the Lorena Ochoa Invitational this week and has the LPGA Tour Championship Dec. 2-5 in Orlando, Fla.
