COL BKB: Texas 83, Navy 52

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Jordan Hamilton scored 26 points and collected 10 rebounds Monday, helping No. 25 Texas post an 83-52 win over Navy in the season openers for both schools.

Hamilton went 10-of-17 from the field and Gary Johnson added 17 points and 10 boards for Texas (1-0), which notched an opening victory as part of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

Tristan Thompson came off the bench to put in 12 points and grab seven rebounds for the Longhorns, who shot 50.8 percent from the floor and held Navy to just 30.2 percent shooting.

The Midshipmen (0-1) managed only 4-of-23 shooting from 3-point territory in the loss.

Mark Veazey led Navy with 14 points and eight rebounds.
