Shin, Baba lead LPGA's Mizuno Classic

SHIMA, Japan, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Top-ranked Jiyai Shin and Yukari Baba share the lead at the LPGA's Mizuno Classic in Japan after shooting 7-under 65s Friday.

Shin opened her round with four consecutive birdies and ended up with nine birdies and a pair of bogeys for her 65. Baba had a bogey at No. 12 -- one of the holes Shin bogeyed -- and eight birdies in her round.

They are one stroke ahead of Morgan Pressel. Five golfers, including last week's LPGA tournament winner Choi Na-yeon, are tied for fourth at 5-under 67.

Shin, despite the share of first, wasn't pleased with her overall result.

"It looks great if you have a look at my score but there were a lot of shots and putts that I regret, so I am not satisfied with my golf," she said.

She opened with four birdies and got to 6-under by adding birdies at Nos. 7 and 11. However, she had a bogey at the 12th hole and, after a birdie at 13, another bogey at 14. Back-to-back birdies at 15 and 16 got her to 7-under.

Baba, playing in her home country, started her round with a birdie at No. 10 but the bogey at 12 got her back to even. She didn't have a misstep after that, getting birdies on three of her next four holes and four more on the front side.
