NHL: Tampa Bay 3, Phoenix 0

GLENDALE, Ariz., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Dan Ellis turned in his first shutout of the season Saturday, stopping 23 shots in the Tampa Bay Lightning's 3-0 win over Phoenix.

Ellis's busiest period was the third, during which he turned aside all 10 Phoenix shots he faced and helped Tampa Bay win the first contest of a four-game road trip.

The Lightning got goals from Mattias Ritola, Adam Hall and Steven Stamkos.

Ritola's first career goal on a second-period wrist shot turned out to be all the offense the Lightning would need.

Ilya Bryzgalov surrendered all three goals on 23 shots for the Coyotes.
