NHL: Philadelphia 6, N.Y. Islanders 1

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Jeff Carter pumped in a pair of goals and added an assist Saturday in the Philadelphia Flyers' 6-1 pounding of the New York Islanders.

Carter's first goal gave Philadelphia a 2-0 lead after the first period and the Flyers broke the contest open with four tallies in the middle stanza, including a pair of power play scores by Chris Pronger.

Kimmo Timonen added a goal and two assists and Russian rookie Sergei Bobrovsky made 30 saves for the Flyers, who won their third straight and fourth in five games.

The Islanders got their lone goal from Frans Nielsen and Rick DiPietro yielded six tallies on 29 shots.

New York dropped its 11th straight in Philadelphia.
