NHL: Boston 2, Toronto 0

BOSTON, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Tim Thomas made 20 saves in his second shutout of the season Thursday, backstopping Boston's 2-0 victory over Toronto.

Thomas came into the game having given up less than a goal per contest in four appearances and he remained unbeaten with another outstanding performance.

The Bruins have a 5-2 record in the early going this season and have given up a total of 11 goals. Thomas has 19 shutouts in his six-year career.

Patrice Bergeron scored his first goal of the season with 41 seconds left in the first period, putting a slap shot past Jonas Gustavsson while the Bruins were on the power play.

The only other goal allowed by Gustavsson came from Tyler Seguin with 7:34 to go in the second. Gustavsson made 30 saves in his third start of the year.
