Ex-hockey coach faces new sex charges

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Former Canadian junior hockey coach Graham James turned himself in to authorities Wednesday to face new sexual assault allegations, Winnipeg police said.

CTV reported police officers met James in Toronto and escorted him back to Winnipeg, where he was arrested.

James had been the subject of an arrest warrant issued in mid-October stemming from an ongoing investigation into "complaints of historic sexual assaults," CTV said.

The 58-year-old ex-coach had pleaded guilty in the 1990s to sexually assaulting former NHL player Sheldon Kennedy and served a three-year prison term.

While he was later granted a pardon, last year another former NHL player, Theo Fleury, published an autobiography in which he accused James of assaulting him.
