Fifth-seeded John Isner fired 27 aces and took the only service break of the second-round match in the third set of a 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 victory over Adrian Mannarino.

The first round was completed Wednesday with Jarkko Nieminen getting past Florent Serra 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-1; and Gilles Simon defeating Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 6-4.
