Vikings coach fined for blasting officials

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Minnesota Vikings Coach Brad Childress has been fined $35,000 for criticizing referees, NFL officials said Tuesday.

League officials confirmed to the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune that Childress was notified of the fine by NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Ray Anderson.

Childress was fuming Monday, a day after the Vikings' 28-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. He used his weekly press conference to blast a video review decision referee Scott Green that took away a 17-yard touchdown catch by tight end Visanthe Shiancoe in the second quarter.

Childress alleged he had been told by an NFL official that Green erred in making the call, in which the referee overturned the ruling on the field that Shiancoe had scored.

Childress also let loose on the officials in a post-game interview on KFAN-AM, Minneapolis, in which he said, "That's the worst officiated game I've seen."
