NHL: Minnesota 4, Edmonton 2

EDMONTON, Alberta, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Kyle Brodziak scored two early goals Thursday, propelling Minnesota to a 4-2 win over Edmonton for its first back-to-back victories of the season.

Brodziak, who has never scored more than 14 goals in a single season during his six-year career, produced his first two of this campaign. He tallied 2:49 into the game and again less than 3 minutes later.

Edmonton twice climbed within one goal of the Wild, but Brent Burns wrapped up the victory by scoring into an empty net with 44 seconds remaining.

Niklas Backstrom made 34 saves to get the victory. Nikolai Khambibulin stopped 24 shots for Edmonton, which has lost three in a row and has fallen to Minnesota twice this season.
