Recari gets first LPGA title with CVS win

DANVILLE, Calif., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Beatriz Recari claimed her first career championship Sunday, firing a 2-under-par 70 to win the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge by one stroke.

Recari, a 23-year-old Spaniard, not only won her first LPGA Tour event but also notched her first-ever top-five finish.

Her 14-under 274 edged Gwladys Nocera (70) by a single shot. Nocera had sole possession of second place at minus-13.

Michele Redman, who was the co-leader after three rounds, stumbled to an even-par 72, falling into a tie for third place with Karine Icher (70) at 12-under 276.

Cristie Kerr (70) and Wendy Ward (72) tied for fifth one shot further back at minus-11.

Ilhee Lee, another third round co-leader, had a rough round, posting a 6 over 78 to drop into a share of 15th at minus-six.
