NHL: Montreal 4, Ottawa 3

MONTREAL, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Tomas Plekanec got the go-ahead goal late in the third period Saturday, staking the Montreal Canadiens to a 4-3 win over Ottawa.

Plekanec's tally came with just under 4 minutes remaining in the game. He also added an assist and Andrei Kostitsyn chipped in with a goal and a helper to help lift the Canadiens to their third win in five games to start the season.

Jeff Halpern and Brian Gionta collected Montreal's other goals to back Carey Price, who needed to stop only 16 shots.

The Senators, who have only one win in their first five contests, got two goals from Milan Michalek in the loss while Brian Elliott let in four goals on 37 shots.
