ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 16 (UPI) -- R.J. Umberger tallied a short-handed goal in the third period Saturday, allowing the Columbus Blue Jackets to upend Minnesota 3-2.
Umberger's goal came midway through the frame and was reviewed by the officials to determine if it had gone completely over the goal line and under goalie Niklas Backstrom's pads.
The Blue Jackets also got goals from Derek Dorsett and Derek MacKenzie in the road victory -- their first regulation win of the year.
Mathieu Garon stopped 21 Minnesota shots.
The Wild got goals from Brent Burns and Cal Clutterbuck in the setback, their third in four games to start the season.
Backstrom ended with 25 saves in the loss.
