PITTSBURGH, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Alex Goligoski scored a power-play goal 1:51 into overtime Friday, lifting the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders.
The Penguins finally produced a victory in their new arena, the CONSOL Energy Center, after losing their first three games at home.
Goligoski came through 59 seconds after Milan Jurcina was sent off for hooking. Evgeni Malkin launched a slapshot that was blocked by the defense, but the puck bounced right to Goligoski and he put it in for his third goal of the season.
All the goals in regulation came in a wild second period, during which Pittsburgh took a 2-0 lead and then surrendered it in a span of less than 2 minutes.
Michael Rupp and Eric Tangradi delivered the Pittsburgh goals and Josh Bailey and Radek Martinek scored for the Islanders.
Brent Johnson, in his second start of the year, made 22 saves to get the win. Rick DiPietro allowed three goals on 29 shots.
