Keselowski increases Nationwide lead

CONCORD, N.C., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Brad Keselowski stayed on the track during a caution with 45 laps to go Friday and the gamble paid off with a win in the Nationwide Series Dollar General 300.

Keselowski ran the final 57 laps at Charlotte Motor Speedway without a pit stop to protect his lead in the series points race. He recorded his fifth win of the year and the 11th of his Nationwide career.

Martin Truex Jr. was unable to pass Keselowski on either of the two late-race restarts and finished second. Justin Allgaier, Joey Logano and pole-sitter Clint Bowyer rounded out the first five.

Kyle Busch, who led the most laps with 84, had to settle for a sixth-place finish. Danica Patrick wound up 21st for her best Nationwide series finish. She was two laps behind when Keselowski crossed the finish line.

Keselowski leads Carl Edwards by 450 points in the championship race.
