Cousins, Davis to head umpiring crews

NEW YORK, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Derryl Cousins and Gerry Davis, who between them have 59 years of major league umpiring experience, will be the crew chiefs for this year's championship series.

Cousins will lead the crew that will work the San Francisco-Philadelphia National League series, which will begin Saturday in Philadelphia.

Cousins, in his 32nd year as a major league umpire, will be working the playoffs for the 15th time. His crew will consist of Tom Hallion, Wally Bell, Ted Barrett, Jeff Nelson and Dan Iassogna.

It will be the 21st playoff series for Davis, who will be in charge of the crew working the American League meeting between Texas and the New York Yankees. The Rangers will host Game 1 on Friday.

Joining Davis will be Brian Gorman, Angel Hernandez, Fieldin Culbreth, Jim Reynolds and Tony Randazzo.
