NHL: Nashville 3, Chicago 2

CHICAGO, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Joel Ward scored a power-play goal with 27 seconds left in the third period Wednesday, boosting the Nashville Predators to a 3-2 triumph over Chicago.

The Predators, winners in each of their two games this season, are one of seven unbeaten teams remaining in the NHL. The defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks have dropped three of their first four.

Anders Lindback got the victory in the first start of his NHL career. He filled in during the third period on Saturday after regular goaltender Pekka Rinne was injured in a multi-player collision in his net during a victory over Anaheim.

Lindback played 17 minutes in that game. He made 23 saves against the Blackhawks.

Chicago had a 2-1 lead after one period and there was no further scoring until Colin Wilson tied it 4:44 into the third.

The game appeared headed for overtime when Chicago's Nick Boynton lifted the puck over the glass and was called for delay of game with 2:13 to play in regulation. That turned out to be a costly penalty when Ward put a wrist shot past Corey Crawford.

Crawford, who has started Chicago's last two games after Marty Turco took the loss in the first two, turned aside 24 shots.
