EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Nick Folk booted five field goals and Dwight Lowery returned an interception for a score Monday in the New York Jets' 29-20 win over Minnesota.

Folk went 5-for-5 on field goal tries, supplying all 15 of the Jets' first-half points, and New York withstood three second-half touchdown passes by the Vikings' Brett Favre to come away with the win.

Favre pulled the Vikings to within 22-20 on an 11-yard TD pass to Percy Harvin with 3:09 remaining, but Lowery picked him off with 1:30 left and rambled untouched 26 yards to ice the contest for New York (4-1), which won its fourth straight.

Mark Sanchez went 21-of-44 passing for 191 yards and LaDainian Tomlinson gained 94 yards on 24 carries for the Jets.

Favre's three TD passes gave him 501 for his career, by far the best in NFL history. He finished 14-of-34 for 264 yards with two TD tosses to Harvin and a 37-yard score to Randy Moss, playing in his first game since returning to the Vikings.

Adrian Peterson racked up 88 yards on 18 carries for Minnesota (1-3).

Favre tearfully apologized to teammates Monday about an investigation over "sexting" allegations, ESPN reported. The NFL is looking into accusations that Favre sent a former New York Jets employee inappropriate text messages and photos when he was with the team in 2008, ESPN said.
