NHL: Phoenix 5, Boston 2

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Radim Vrbata delighted his home country crowd Saturday, scoring a pair of goals Saturday in the Phoenix Coyotes' 5-2 win over Boston in Prague, Czech Republic.

Vrbata, a Czech Republic native, supplied the firepower in the season opener for both teams at the O2 Arena in the Czech capital.

The speedy Coyotes also got goals from Taylor Pyatt, Scottie Upshall and Eric Belanger while Ed Jovanovski collected two assists in the victory.

Ilya Bryzgalov was steady in nets for Phoenix, making 40 saves.

The Bruins were trailing 4-0 after two periods when they got a pair of goals from newcomer Nathan Horton, his second coming during a power play on a 15-footer wrister that beat Bryzgalov on short side.

Bruins goalie Tuuka Rask made 32 saves and stopped a pair of second-period Coyotes breakaways that prevented the contest from becoming a blow-out.
