COL FB: Arkansas 24, Texas A&M 17

ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Ryan Mallet fired three first-half touchdowns Saturday and No. 13 Arkansas held on for a 24-17 victory over Texas A&M.

Mallet's second scoring strike was a 71-yarder to Cobi Hamilton that broke a 7-7 tie and gave the Razorbacks (4-1) the lead for good with 4:18 left in the first quarter.

Mallet ended the day 27-of-38 passing for 311 yards, the three touchdowns and an interception in the non-conference victory.

Hamilton made five receptions for 98 yards and Knile Davis racked up 82 yards rushing on 10 carries for Arkansas.

The Aggies (3-2) were plagued by turnovers, losing the ball three times on fumbles.

Jerrod Johnson could only muster 15 completions in 41 pass attempts for 218 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Christine Michael gained 74 yards on 18 carries but fumbled the ball away once for Texas A&M.
