Bears QB Cutler to return after concussion

CHICAGO, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will return for the team's next game after sustaining a concussion, Coach Lovie Smith said Monday.

Cutler was sacked nine times in the first half of Sunday's Week 4 loss to the New York Giants and didn't return after halftime.

He went 8-of-11 passing for 42 yards with an interception in the defeat.

Smith told the Chicago Tribune Cutler wasn't showing any effects from the concussion and was feeling fine. He said he expected Cutler to be ready for the Bears' game Sunday at Carolina.

Back-up signal-caller Todd Collins subbed for Cutler and completed 4-of-11 passes for 36 yards before he, too, was injured with a stinger late in the fourth quarter.

Caleb Hanie finished the game for the Bears, going 3-of-4 for 36 yards.
