MLB: St. Louis 6, Colorado 1

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Jeff Suppan hurled six scoreless innings Sunday, keying the St. Louis Cardinals' season-ending 6-1 victory over Colorado.

Suppan (3-8) surrendered five hits, walked one and struck out five to earn the win.

Matt Pagnozzi drove in two runs and the Cards also got RBI from Joe Mather and Brendan Ryan in the win, St. Louis's fifth in a row to end the season at 86-76.

Dexter Fowler connected for a solo homer for the Rockies (83-79), who ended a late-season slide from playoff contention with their eighth straight loss and 13th in 14 games.

Esmil Rogers (2-3) took the defeat, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits through four innings.
