MADISON, Miss., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Bill Haas posted his first-ever 54-hole lead Saturday, firing a 3-under 69 for a four-shot advantage at the Viking Classic.
Haas collected eight birdies to offset three bogeys and a double-bogey at the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss., finishing three rounds at 15-under 201.
That was good enough for a sizable lead over playing partner Brendon de Jonge (73), Michael Allen (70) and Nathan Green (70), who were knotted in second place at minus-11.
Jason Bohn (67) held sole possession of fifth place one stroke further back at minus-10.
Haas has one career PGA win under his belt, which he collected this year at the Bob Hope Classic, and has never held the lead after three rounds.
Green tied Haas after birdying the 14th, but Haas responded with his own birdie on the same hole to move ahead for good.
