CHICAGO, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Casey Coleman worked around six hits in seven shutout innings and also drove in a run Friday, boosting the Chicago Cubs to a 2-0 victory over Houston.
Coleman (4-2) made his eighth start since being called up from the minors and increased his chances of earning a rotation spot next spring.
He produced an RBI double in the fourth inning for the game's final run. Wellington Castillo doubled home Bobby Scales with Chicago's first tally in the second.
Both Chicago runs were allowed by Bud Norris (9-10), who gave up only three hits but walked seven over six innings. It was Houston's fifth loss in six games.
Chicago has recorded 14 shutouts this season and three in its last five outings.
