NEW YORK, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Start times for the 2010 World Series games were announced Thursday, with all games at night but with one slightly earlier than in recent years.

Most of the games, including the first two scheduled for Oct. 27 and Oct. 28, are to begin at 7:57 p.m. EDT. Game 4, which would be played Oct. 31, is scheduled to begin at 8:20 p.m. EDT, after Fox ends its regular NFL Sunday coverage.

Game 3, to be played Oct. 30 in the American League team's park, is to begin at 6:57 p.m. EDT. It is the earliest scheduled start time for a World Series game since 1987.

"I am extremely pleased we are able to provide our fans the earliest World Series start time since 1987 with Saturday's Game 3," Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement. "The changes we made with Fox last year to start the World Series games earlier helped increase viewership, including more young fans, and we are optimistic that the earlier start time for Saturday's Game 3 will keep us moving in the same direction."

Last year, World Series games were moved to a 7:57 p.m. EDT start after years of games beginning at 8:30 p.m. EDT. That schedule had many games ending after midnight in the Eastern time zone.
