Spartans' Dantonio returns to coach duties

EAST LANSING, Mich., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Michigan State football Coach Mark Dantonio said Tuesday he'll be back at Spartan Stadium after suffering a mild heart attack.

Dantonio told reporters during his weekly press conference he will coach the team from the press box Saturday when No. 21 Michigan State hosts ninth-ranked Wisconsin.

"I just think walking around out there (on the sideline) for 3 hours might be a little bit tiring," he said. "But that would be my initial plan at this point."

Dantonio was hospitalized hours after the Spartans downed Notre Dame in overtime Sept. 18 and underwent a cardiac catheterization procedure in which a stent was used to open a blocked blood vessel leading to his heart.

He was released from hospital early last week and visited the team Friday before watching the Spartans' victory over Northern Colorado last weekend.

"I will say it was a little bit surreal watching the game at home," Dantonio said.
