LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Hiroki Kuroda allowed a lone run through eight innings Thursday and Adam Ethier had two RBI in bringing the Los Angeles Dodgers a 3-1 win over San Diego.
The Padres lost their lead in the National League West, falling a half game behind San Francisco. The Giants rolled over the Chicago Cubs 13-0 earlier in the evening.
Kuroda (11-13) won for the first time in four starts, giving up five hits and striking out four. The only run he allowed came on a groundout in the first inning.
Ethier quickly tied it in the bottom of the first with a double that brought home Rafael Furcal. Ethier singled in Furcal to put Los Angeles in front in the third and Ethier scored the final run when Rod Barajas drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth.
Hong-Chih Kuo worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 10th save since replacing Jonathan Broxton as the Los Angeles closer.
Mat Latos (14-8) was charged with the loss, giving up three runs on six hits in five innings. Latos has just one win in his last six starts.
