OSTRAVA, Czech Republic, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- University of Connecticut star Maya Moore was the only non-WNBA player selected for the U.S. women's team for the 2010 FIBA World Championships.
USA Basketball officials announced the team roster Wednesday, one day before the women's world championships begin in Greece.
Also on the U.S. team are Sylvia Fowles, Swin Cash, Jayne Appel, Tina Charles, Candice Dupree, Asjha Jones, Angel McCoughtry and Lindsay Whalen.
"The process has been unbelievably difficult. It's taken a lot out of us, the committee, coaches, staff," Auriemma said of choosing the final roster.
"It was probably the most difficult time that I've had as a coach in 35 years. When you have to say goodbye to players as committed to USA Basketball as Kara (Lawson) and Seimone (Augustus) have been, it's very, very, very difficult."
The U.S. team came in third in the 2006 world championship, which was won by Australia.
