MLB: Boston 6, Baltimore 1

BOSTON, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- David Ortiz hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the fourth Wednesday and had four RBI in boosting Boston to a 6-1 victory over Baltimore.

Josh Reddick also hit a solo homer for the Red Sox, his first in 50 at-bats this season and the third of his major league career.

Boston had lost four of its previous five games to all but fall out of post-season contention. The Red Sox began the night 6 1/2 games behind Tampa Bay in the race for the American League wild card berth.

Ortiz hit his home run off Kevin Millwood (3-16) and added an RBI single during Boston's two-run sixth.

John Lackey (13-11) allowed five hits and a run over seven innings to get the victory.

Baltimore had a three-game winning streak snapped. Millwood has lost eight of his last nine decisions.
