Ravens assistant Moeller arrested for DUI

BALTIMORE, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Baltimore Ravens assistant coach Andy Moeller is facing a drunken driving charge after his weekend arrest, Maryland State Police say.

The Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday that court records show Moeller's Saturday arrest was his second in four months in addition to a late 2007 case.

In the latest incident, state police spokesman Greg Shipley said Moeller, 46 of Owings Mills, was stopped by a state trooper for speeding shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday on the outer loop of Baltimore's beltway. He was charged with seven violations, including driving under the influence.

Attorney Andrew I. Alperstein said Monday Moeller would plead not guilty.

"We'll deal with this [case] as it comes … . My client's position is that we're going to review the evidence and decide how to proceed," Alperstein said.

Moeller, an assistant offensive line coach for the Ravens since 2008, attended the team's game Sunday, a 15-10 loss in Cincinnati.

"We're aware of the situation," said Kevin Byrne, the Ravens' senior vice president of public relations.

In August, Moeller was acquitted on four counts, including charges of driving under the influence and negligent driving stemming from a May arrest, the Sun said.

The newspaper said Moeller also was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Dec. 8, 2007, in Ann Arbor, Mich. The DUI charge was later reduced to driving while visibly impaired.

Moeller was the offensive line coach at Michigan at the time.
